Outside JW World They Barely Exist
by Farmer Jim1 inis anyone else staggered by the fact that outside of the organization most of the general public seem to know very little or nothing about jw’s?
when i was in i was led to believe that 99% of the worlds population had been giving sufficient warning, knew what it was all about and were stubbornly sticking to their immoral ways.
the reality seems to be that the entire jw universe is barely noticeable to the masses.

The prayer switch
by Sour Grapes insomething that i have often thought about is how does god know when our thoughts go from normal thoughts to when we say a silent prayer?
does god listen to all of the thoughts of earth's 8,000,000,000 people 24/7 and when one person goes into prayer mode then god's ears perk up with an "incoming" alert?
then he has to decide if he answers the prayers to help a brother with cancer or just let the poor guy die.

Prayer is such a crazy human activity. I don't think they'll ever stop it's like playing a slot machine maybe this time I'll win.

Must We Always See Heroes OR Villains?
by TerryWalstrom invillains can be heroic.
recite statistics of only the worst or exclusively the best of any person and a distorted conclusion is easy to reach.. __________.
"by the end of his term, president ronald reagan's 138 administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations.".

People are complicated and you really can't judge what people do at different times in history. If we look at our world today we see so many different opinions about public figures and we don't know them or any of the circumstances surrounding whatever event people are writing about.
I personally think it's ridiculous to start tearing down statues, outlawing books that were considered classics, renaming schools. Where does it stop? Is it really worth it? We don't know the facts. If you watch a movie from the 70's you often see how politically incorrect it is with today's social justice warrior standards.
People are acting like an out of control immune system.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. A dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the twilight zone.

Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?
by HeyLittleGirl inmy freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

Not being a born-in, It is my observation that children at the hall have a unique life they are accepted and hugged by many adults and treated deceptively well as young children. However, as they age the web tightens and they are expected to drink the cool-aid and get with the program. So I think it's very difficult for them to leave because they have fond memories of a large accepting families in their youth and then their trapped. It's like leaving your homeland and culture and never seeing your family again.

it was not a career of choice but just sort of happened.
